What is UV Sterilization:

 The idea of using ultraviolet light to kill microorganisms was presented by Arthur Downes and Thomas Blunt in a paper published in the 1870s.

The application of ultraviolet light for disinfection has been an accepted practice since the mid-20th-century. Ultraviolet disinfection methods use short-wavelength ultraviolet C or UVC lights to kill or inactivate microorganism by destroying nucleic acid and disrupting their DNA.

UV light is electromagnetic radiation with a wavelength shorter than visible light but longer than X-rays. UV can be separated into various rangers with short wavelength UV (UV-C) is called germicidal UV. Wavelength between 200nm and 300nm is strongly absorbed by the nucleic acid. This absorption results in defects, including pyrimidine dimers. These dimers can prevent replication for the expression of necessary proteins resulting in the death or inactivation of the organism.
